Frequently asked questions.

If your question isn't covered in these frequently asked questions, please feel free to send me an email at zoe @ zoemartos.art

1. Can I commission a painting or drawing?

Absolutely! Please fill out the contact form with details and I will get back to you. There is also an option for custom art on my store where you can select from a custom watercolour lake, pencil portrait, or watercolour house portrait, or plant portrait. If you are looking for something else, please contact me and I'll see if I can make your idea happen!

I really love commissions and creating a special piece for a specific person. It brings me so much joy. The best part of the commission process for me is delivering the art to you - every single client I have created a custom piece for has been overjoyed. I want to make you happy!

2. When and how will my artwork be shipped?

Prints

Prints will be shipped by method selected on check-out. In stock prints will ship within 2-3 business days. Some prints are made to order, which are noted in the description, and take 7-10 days to ship.

Cards

Cards will be sent by standard Canada Post mail service, unless a different shipping method is selected. Cards ship within 2-3 business days.

Originals

All originals will ship via Priority Shipping with a tracking number and insurance coverage. Since originals cannot be replaced, I want to ensure your artworks arrives to you in perfect condition. Upgraded shipping with tracking allows me to keep track of the piece as it is delivered to you. Originals ship within 2-3 business days.

Packaging

I use a cardboard backing, a clear plastic envelope, and study cardboard mailers to protect and package your art.

International Shipping

Customers are responsible for any fees, taxes, and duties associated with purchasing and shipping to their respective countries.

To keep international shipping costs reasonable, most international orders are shipped via International letter mail. Please keep in mind orders can take up to 3 weeks to arrive. Tracking can be a bit unreliable with international shipments. However, I have never had a lost package when shipping internationally and I've often shipped artwork to Europe and remote regions like Svalbard and Faroe Islands.

3. What is a giclee print and what print quality can I expect?

All print reproductions in my shop are giclee reproductions. They are printed on high quality, textured watercolour paper with professional-grade inks. The quality is so good that they look like originals, and will last almost forever if taken care of. Most prints are made to order by a local printing house and take 7-10 days to ship.

4. How do I frame my art?

I recommend you frame your art or print. Not only does it look more professional, it also protects the piece to make sure it lasts a lot longer. Standard frames at your local craft store work well, but if you aren't sure what to do or want something a bit more special, head to a local framer. They are pros and will be able to frame your piece to fit perfectly in your space.

5. Where should I hang my art?

Watercolours can be delicate, so it is best if you don't place the art in direct sunlight as this can cause the colours to fade over time. If taken care of, watercolours and prints can last a lifetime!

6. Collaborations

I love working with other artists, creatives, and makers. Please contact me with your ideas and let's see where this process takes us!

7. Shops/Stockists/Wholesale

If you are interested in carrying my art at your shop or gallery, please contact me at zoe@zoemartos.art. I am also happy to create specific pieces for your shop.

8. My art arrived damaged or was lost.

What happens if my artwork arrived damaged OR was not delivered OR was lost OR was stolen? We are not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service (Canada Post domestically or internationally), and we are not liable for any damages that happen after delivery.

That being said, if there is a damage issue with an order, please contact me within 24 hours of receiving an order. I’ll look into the damage, and if the parcel was insured, offer options for refund or replacement. This is why I recommend shipping with insurance, especially for originals!

9. Who owns the art?

I, Zoë Martos, retain all rights to the artwork I create. I retain the right to make reproductions of all artwork I create. You, a collector or buyer, may not reproduce the artwork in any way, for any reason.

For original artworks, if you wish to purchase the rights to the artwork, that is an option for an additional licensing fee. Please contact me to discuss details and for the licensing agreement. Some collectors may prefer this option to ensure that a print or reproduction is never made of the artwork.

10. What if I don't like the colours?

I want to make sure you get art that you love. Please do take time to carefully read product descriptions and check colours on different screens if colour matching is a major concern. I do try to ensure colours are represented accurately, but different screens display colours differently. If you are still unsure before ordering, please contact me and I can assist by sending additional photos if needed.

11. Do you offer returns or refunds?

Please read the full return policy here. Original art and commissions are final sale.
