Sustainability matters.

Sustainability is an important part of my art and my personal values. I don’t feel that I can work my day job in climate change and not address sustainability in my art - everything is connected. So I am committed to taking steps towards a sustainable art practice and business. Read more about what I am doing below.

The basics.

I have started with basics of sustainability: using recycled supplies for packing and shipping orders, printing greeting cards on 100% recycled paper. These are small steps, but steps towards sustainability nonetheless. This year we are hoping to transition to plastic-free shipping all together!

Offsetting carbon.

Everything we do on a daily basis adds to our carbon footprints - from charging a phone to shipping a parcel. One way to offset the carbon produced is to plant trees. I want to make my impact of shipping your parcels smaller, so for every sale, $1 goes towards planting trees in Ontario with Tree Canada.

Transition to eco-friendly supplies.

This one is a tough one, because I have particular preferences for supplies - paints, papers, and brushes (old habits and all that). BUT I have been introduced to some wonderful creatives that hand make supplies for watercolour artists. My commitment is to 1) use all of my current supplies, and 2) buy new supplies with intention and to support these small businesses that offer handmade supplies.
